Since Harvey Nichols first opened in Knightsbridge in 1831, Harvey Nichols has been internationally renowned for its expertly edited fashion and beauty merchandise, premium food and wine offer and award-winning restaurants. Harvey Nichols has seven stores within the UK and Ireland, consisting of five large-format stores in London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, and two small-format stores in Bristol and Dublin. A beauty concept store, Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols, opened in Liverpool in November 2012.
All UK stores have luxury Foodmarkets and Restaurants, Cafés or Brasseries. Harvey Nichols also owns and operates OXO Tower Restaurant, Bar and Brasserie on the South Bank in London. In addition to this, there are six large-format stores overseas: one in Riyadh, one in Dubai, two in Hong Kong, one in Doha Festival City and one in Kuwait.
Harvey Nichols has joined the Sustainable Luxury Working Group and adopted the Animal Sourcing Principles. The Animal Sourcing Principles, set out the minimum requirements that a supplier must adhere to in order to trade with Harvey Nichols and they require 100% compliance. This includes maintaining species populations of wild animals at sustainable levels as well as to source only material of animal origin that stem from legal sources.
Harvey Nichols have launched their Re-imagine campaign, shining fresh new light on some of the industry’s sustainable fashion brands such as Eileen Fisher and Nanushka.
Additionally, Harvey Nichols have recently partnered with luxury resale service Reflaunt which launched in 2018. The new partnership allows consumers to drop off clothing, bags and accessories they want to resell at Harvey Nichols stores. They have the opportunity to earn up to 80% back via the Reflaut-run portal on the Harvey Nichols website. Upcycling and reselling luxury items is a key way of extending the lives of fashion garments and limiting the amount of high quality, wearable goods that end up in landfill.
Harvey Nichols have also introduced an after-care program for their products, partnering with Restory. This allows customers to return their purchases to be restored within 18 months of purchase. Services include cleaning, reheeling, leather conditioning and colour restoration. This stemmed from their desire to make their products last longer in the hands of their consumers, allowing them to “buy less, but buy better”.
